Re-Production

Our decision to re-produce our book without any technology at all, was derived from our original intentions as stated in the manifesto.

The idea was that we would all meet and pass our drawing round in a circle, and copy each member of the groups drawings. As this was done in a circle the end result would b e a collection of images that were copies of copies and so on.

We thought that this method was appropriate to our society because it incorporated the idea of passing down knowledge and information, and looking at how time affects this. It also turned the process of re-production into an enjoyable group activity that allowed a great amount of communication between all of our group members.

We felt that the envelopes we used to draw on were both resourceful and also allowed a concertina binding that meant that the book could begin at any point, and could always be added to.

Despite being pleased with these ideas i think we all agreed that the production value let the final product down. Given the chance to do this again we all agreed we would have been more rigid in terms of meeting at certain times and places, despite the liberal outlook of our group, and this would have proven most productive.

Influences Defence

For the topic defense I looked into the foundations of tribal art and symbolism. Looking deeply into Gond Indian art. In particularly at Bhajju Shyam. How he naively transforms his visual journeys into western culture into flat detailed images.
So I looked to take away from him a process of transforming ideas and feelings into my images. This is how I initially worked on this project and acceptingly failed. (Images to be included soon). On recognition I had to start again and see how this work as a group could gel. So we agreed on taking a heavy influence and ethos of work production. Which is how the work developed complying to a strong line of production.

Deary me, This is Chloe

I completely forgot to mention on my other posts, what my illustrations are about. Each member of my group chose a word. To which i got "Community" therefore I had to come up with images in regards to that word. Hence what my illustrations represent~ The activities, and things our creatures do in our microscopic society. I looked into the work of Ernst Haeckel to gain some inspiration.

Goodbye! x

Unused creature

These are the other versions of the illustrations that got used in our manifesto. I used a different creature as i was unsure of which ones to use.

Creatures and what not

I took the shape from my costume, ad tried to come up with a creature/s that could be used within our nomadic society. These are a few characters i come up with. After that i decided to draw them onto brown paper envelopes, as, as a group we had decided that we'd draw on them so that there was a sense of continuity and then we would make our manifesto into a concertina.

Developments

These are the images i come up with after i got the brief. I didn't know how to illustrate the members of our societies faces, therefore i left them blank.

I then went onto producing the same images in water colour to see what they'd look like.

Dust & Defence

The way the pollen interlocks reminds me of our tribes method of defence, despite each of us having our own individual being, they could still interlock into one solid structure.
